How's Your New Year Going So Far?

It's been a busy time around here since 1/1. We are getting our kitchen renovated, so things are kind of in upheaval, but it's all working out. I still have a refrigerator hooked up, and a working microwave, but that was about it for food prep until my BIL brought over an electric skillet. That think is a lifesaver! It allows me to make yummy egg scramble with loads of veggies. I can also make oatmeal in the microwave. (I don't eat bread on my eating plan, so things like toast or cereal are out!) It's so interesting to see as I work my was back to goal that once I really committed to staying away from flour and sugar, my cravings and "cheating" really evaporated. Now, if I'm hungry, I reach for a handful of almonds or some Greek yogurt (plain) and add fruit to it, and I'm satisfied. Since 12/31, I've lost 8 pounds and I only have 3.5 left to get back to my desired weight in the middle of my maintenance range! I know my new workouts at the gym (small group HIIT training and a session a week with one on one personal training) are helping, but I think it's really the careful eating that gets results. How are you all doing so far? I'm so encouraged by reading what works for everyone. I hope you are working your plan and seeing results and enjoying your pursuit of a healthy lifestyle!
