Challenge Week #1 Recap...

So my first week of this new challenge was a success, and I will be happy about that... but as I am always my own worst critic, I also know that it could've been even better...

My success: I lost 1.8 lbs. this week! Any loss on the scale is a win, so I will definitely take it! (of course I would've liked more)

Nutrition was on point 6 out of 7 days... gotta admit that hubby & I had a "date night" w/ my bff & her hubby last Friday, and we went to the movies, which included some good ol' buttery popcorn. Afterwards we went to Applebee's for drinks & appetizers, so obviously my calories went over that night, and we won't even think about the amount of sodium I ingested that night! But, I got right back on track the following day...

Fitness-wise, I continue to make huge progress in physical therapy since my surgery. I'm now "cane-free" and walking on my own two feet. I've been increasing my steps daily, and am up to walking a full mile at a time, and even got my step count above 6,000 this week (first time since October)!

Motivation has been good this week, though I must admit that I did break my own rule and step on the scale on Saturday (after the date night) to see what kind of damage I had done. I'm kinda glad I did, cuz I definitely had a gain that morning, so that is why I know I could've lost more weight if I hadn't "indulged" that night... but that is in the past and I will not dwell on it.

Part of our challenge is to try something new each week to help in our weight loss efforts... last week, I did "healthy" home-cooked meals each day, instead of relying on pre-packaged foods. I succeeded in doing so all 7 days... yes, even on date night, I made us a healthy lunch. This week, I plan to "give up" my caffeinated beverages... I had been doing really well w/ that, even up to a streak longer than 2 months. Then I let myself have one Coke Zero, and I've been drinking one about every other day since... so time to get my streak going again!

That about sums up my first week... onto Week #2, and hopefully a bigger loss to report this time next week!
