Know your emotional triggers and have a plan and the resources READY to do something other than EAT.
Examples:
Anger:
-Just breathe and take a mini-mental vacation to calm yourself on the spot so that you can think better how to pursue your goals.
-Exercise vigorously! Expend the energy anger imparts until you feel calm again
-If it is a recurring problem, start journaling about it. Immediately! Use your journal to explore your anger and possible solutions. Remember, you can't change the world until you are willing to change yourself. Your power is WITHIN.

Sadness/depression:
-Volunteer. Make a commitment to give of yourself.
-Spend time with your pet.
-Reach out to family and friends. Quit hiding!
- Get outside and walk and just look at the sky. Engage in active (moving) meditation in which you simply empty your brain.

Boredom:
-Grab a book and read!
-Exercise! Yup! Just jump up and go shadow-box in the bathroom! Walk up and down the stairs. MOVE!
-Call your mom. (Okay, I'm a mom here and this one is self-serving. If you can do better, do it!)
