Reasons we eat on special occasions??????
This is the answer I have not found. Why is everything from Valentines chocolates to Christmas fruit cake considered tradition?
We buy, and more than likely toss out, more food on Thanksgiving than most people can even afford to buy in a month.
Or two!!!
Today, thinking about this weekends Superbowl coming up, GOBRONCOS!!!!!
I decided I am going to continue the tradition of having foods, but, I am changing things a bit.
I plan to make a small pot of chicken white bean chili. and instead of chips and dip, i am going to put out a tray of celery and carrots with yogurt dip.
No crackers, no chips, no alcohol. and no pizza or varieties of fattening dips or cookies!!
Super Bowl in my house is a big deal, especially since the Broncos are playing this one.
One tradition that started a few years ago was hot fudge sundaes.
None of that this year!!!
I will have some yogurt instead.
Valentines Day isnt so bad for me, my honey knows better than to spend a fortune on roses, something I do not want or need, and he knows alot better than a box of chocolates.
Instead, I would rather have him do a little housework and maybe give a nice back rub, which I find myself needing more these days.
Besides, the Walking Dead returns that night, so I know what I will be doing for at least 3 hours!!!!
What are some food traditiions that you have found a healthier alternative for???

I'm attending a Super Bowl party, and I can't begin to wonder what Marge will be making. I'm thinking there will be wings. Janet always shows up with shrimp so there will be options. Take care, and, yes, I hope Peyton Manning prevails.

Yes it seems the world revolves around food! I'm working myself away from that trap!
My tradition or should say my husbands is giving birthday and Christmas gifts to his three grown sons. We have been married since 2011 and every year we have gone without so he can give to them! I don't get anything for Christmas which is okay since I don't need anything, but he spends so much on them and his two grand sons. One year we were gagging the pennies to make ends meet! Now we are in financial stress after he got his civil service pay cut to nothing due to an error the government made. Not sure what we are going to do on going. This is going to last for 6 years! I'm holding my breath when the holidays come. I'm maxed out as far as how much I can contribute to the household. I go without EVERYTHING except food for my two cats. Can only pray he will wake up before December and be honest with those guys. I refuse to help him give to them!
