After being unable to get up out of bed due to severe back pain and weighing 270 pounds, I found SparkPeople.com. I have used every part of this web site that I know about for the information and support I have needed to start living a healthy lifestyle. I did start out just trying to lose "some" weight to take the strain off a back with degenerative disc disease, but very soon learned a much more holistic approach to becoming healthy. I lost the majority of my weight in the first 2 years by eating well (smaller portions of healthier food) and exercising more (30 to 60 minutes a day of walking, swimming, hiking, biking, Zumba and even running for a few years) I went under 200 pounds in 2011 and to 185 by 2013.
I stayed at a healthy 185. (normal blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol levels) for about 2 1/2 years trying to get to my wedding weight which was my goal weight of 175. I found the Beck Solution in August 2015 through several Spark friends and used cognitive behavior therapy to reach that goal weight of 175 in January 2016.

I got up and weighed myself and ......
I've lost 100 pounds !
I still have 175 as my goal weight. It is still in the overweight range for my height, but I am confident I can maintain that weight. I have been eating and moving the same amount since August 2015 so I am going to continue this way for as long as I can and see what happens, I haven't been trying to lose weight just to eat and live in a healthy and comfortable way. I have been using Beck Foundation Principles, Bright Line Eating, and the Leptin Rules as my guidelines,.
I plan my three 400 to 500 calorie meals a day and log them on SparkPeople. I have cut out most of the sugar and flour from my diet and eat at least 30 grams of protein at each meal. I have increased my fiber intake to about 30 grams a day. I exercise moderately for about 60 minutes 5 days a week. Right now Zumba is my favorite exercise but I also love to walk, hike and bike. My life is no longer centered on my next meal, I'm not hungry and don't crave food very often and when I do I have the Beck tools to keep me on track. I have "fallen off the wagon" many times in the last 6 1/2 years, but the key to my reaching my goal is that I have started right back on plan the minute I realize I got off track.
I am happy and free from food obsession.
