February 27, 2016 ENCOURAGEMENT AND GRATITUDE

When we are truly grateful for God’s blessings and the people in our lives, we are showing God we are responsible with what and who He has blessed us with. We should use the gifts and talents we are grateful for by building up and encouraging our family and friends. We should give to those in need what God has given to us. Also, we need to pray for them, intercede on their behalf and thank God for them. Then He will give us the right spirit to be responsible and know what He wants us to do to help them.

1 Timothy 2:1 “I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, You tell us to be grateful for what we have. You tell us to build up others and encourage them. You tell us to pray for all people. We know there is a reason You want us to do these things. Help us to realize the importance of good relationships with others and with You. Draw us closer to You and remind us to be responsible with gratitude and encouragement just as You have called us to do. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

If we want to be responsible with relationships, we need to pray for all people – yes, even those who annoy us.

If we want to be responsible with relationships, we need to give thanks for those people God has put in our lives.

If we want to be responsible with relationships, we need to forgive those who have done wrong to us and show them God’s love.

If we want to be responsible with relationships, we need to share God’s word with those who God has purposefully put in our lives.

If we want to be responsible with relationships, we need to encourage others and build them up God’s way.

1 Thessalonians 5:11 “So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.” (NLT)

Focus: God wants us to give thanks and pray for others so we can be more responsible in our relationships.
