February 29, 2016 WE NEED TO UNDERSTAND

When someone is speaking a foreign language, what they are saying sounds like gibberish because we don’t understand the language. If we really desire to know what they are saying, we have to find an interpreter to translate. It is not easy nor convenient to get someone to translate but we do because we need to communicate with them. When we don’t understand God’s word, we sometimes give up too easily. Why not have a greater desire to understand God’s word by seeking other translations, praying for Him to intercede and seeking desperately to know what He wants us to hear and understand? It is that important we do and very well worth the effort. Our very souls depend on it. Along with the souls of others. We are called to reconcile others to God and we can’t do that if we don’t understand how.

2 Corinthians 5:18b “And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, we know there are some things we will never understand. We know there are things we cannot comprehend. We know there are things only You will know. However, we pray we don’t give up too easily when we don’t understand Your word and Your will. We pray we will remain focused on You and dig deeper into Your word and have a strong desire to know what it is You are saying to us and what it is You want us to do. Help us see the urgency of being a responsible servant to You and better understand Your word. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

If there is something we don’t understand in God’s word, He wants us to dig deeper.

God’s word is meant to read, study and act on. Why are we shirking away from it?

If we don’t understand a certain translation of the Bible, we can easily find another and people who can help us understand it.

Matthew 13:9 “Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand.” (NLT)

God is able to reveal to us things in His word like no one else can. If we don’t understand something in the Bible, we can go to Him and ask.

God wants us to go and make disciples. Are we doing this? What are we doing daily?

Matthew 28:19 “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.” (NLT)

Focus: A daily effort to teach others about God will bring many rewards in Heaven.
