March 4, 2016 LIFE IS NOT FAIR

Many of us have had situations in life when we felt what happened was not fair. It may have happened to us or to someone else. We probably allowed it to mull over in our heads. We possibly talked about the situation with others. We may have even missed out on some opportunities to do good because we were so wrapped up in allowing that situation to consume us. When we allow the unfairness of life to stop us from doing God’s will, we are creating suffering for ourselves and missing out on God’s blessings for us and others.

Luke 10:40-42 “But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said, ‘Lord, doesn’t it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me.’ But the Lord said to her, ‘My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.’” (NLT)

Dear Lord, we know we don’t need to focus on the unfairness of life. We don’t need to worry about why things happen to us and compare ourselves to others. We only need to focus on You and do Your will. You tell us there is only one thing to be concerned about. And that is You. We know when we stay wrapped up in who is doing what, we will cause suffering to ourselves and others. Remind us to put You first in our lives so we aren’t so worried about the unfairness in the world. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Rather than allow an unfair situation to consume us, we should pray and let God handle things so we can continue doing His will.

Going to God when we feel like something is unfair will help us remember to take our focus off the situation and back on Him.

We cause our own suffering when we focus on those unfair situations. We need to give that to God so we can focus more on Him.

God wants us to stop creating unnecessary suffering by mulling over unfair situations. He wants us to focus on Him and do His will.

We don’t have to waste time mulling over unfair treatment. God will take care of those type of things.

Psalm 103:6 “The LORD gives righteousness and justice to all who are treated unfairly.” (NLT)

Focus: Unfairness happens in life. We can be a godly example when it happens by focusing on God.
