Thought and Prayer for Sunday, March 6, 2016

Sunday, March 06, 2016

We probably have all suffered at one time or another financially. We may have lost a job which decreased our income. We may have had medical issues which caused increased bills. We may have overspent using credit to get things we didn't really need. Whatever the reason, when we are financially struggling, it can cause us to suffer. However, God wants us to remember Him with our finances. What we have is what He has blessed us with and we should give Him our firsts no matter what. When we do that, we won't have to suffer and He will help us more than we can even imagine.

2 Corinthians 9:7-8 "You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don't give reluctantly or in response to pressure. For God loves a person who gives cheerfully. And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others." (NLT)

Dear Lord, remind us despite our financial situation we should always put You first with our finances. We know we sometimes dwell too much on our money which causes us to suffer because we are taking our eyes off of You. Instead we should focus on You and let you handle our financial situation. We want to give You the glory in all we do which includes our spending. Help us to give to You cheerfully knowing You will always provide us with what we need. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Rather than suffer financially, we should cheerfully give to God from what He has blessed us with.

We always can't help going through financial burdens but we can always give God the firsts of what He has given to us.

We should decide in our hearts what to give and give cheerfully rather than reluctantly.

God loves a cheerful giver. Are you one?

God did not spare what He gave to us when He gave up His Son. We should not spare what we give to Him.

Romans 8:32 "Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won't he also give us everything else?" (NLT)

Focus: We should give cheerfully to God in thanks despite how bad our financial situation is.
