Parenting is not for Sissies...

Sunday, March 06, 2016

My kids are both adults now, but both still live at home. In my house, the rule is that you have to be a full time student or have a full time job to stay here, and you have to be responsible for your own bills. So on our way home from church today, my son and I got into an argument over stupid stuff. You know how these things can escalate till hurtful things are said that can't be taken back. By the time we got home, I was in tears and he was furious. That whole exchange derailed my entire day. Normally I would have eaten lunch, then went grocery shopping... Yeah, that didn't happen. I spent 30 min in a parking lot sobbing and then went straight to shopping and somehow missed lunch all together. My husband this evening scooped me up and took me to Denny's for a salad, but I didn't like the Greens they used so I hardly ate it. I finally ate something but it wasn't until 8:30 :/ My water was messed up too. I have had maybe 2 glasses of water...Ugggh. My son and I did both apologize and we are OK, but oh, what it did to my eating today...

I was out on my own at 18yr old and estranged from my parents, and I guess I just want better for them.

I would imagine having your adult children living with you can be quite stressful. Maybe an opportunity to become a little independent and move out of the house will come sooner than later. We can be hopeful, right?

Yes, same issues exactly! I have amazing kids who aren't out there doing some of the things other kids their age are doing but they can be soooo irresponsible!!!

I have an adult child living with me as well and yes we argue. She wants to be treated like an adult but not take all the responsibility that comes with it. Yes she drives me crazy but I don't let it mess up my goals for getting healthy. Chin up.
