March 8, 2016 BACK TO BASICS

Recently while playing a guessing game with some friends; it seemed the easiest answers were the hardest to guess. We were actually making it too hard and thinking too much and missing the obvious. Isn't it that way with life sometimes? We try to make the easiest things harder than they need to be. All we have to do to make a child happy is play with him. All we have to do to help a relationship is to look for ways to help others. All we have to do to improve our finances is simplify our lives and trust in God. Why do have to make the easy things so hard?

Psalm 19:7 "The instructions of the LORD are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple." (NLT)

Dear Lord, when we choose to make our lives simpler, we will see things much more clearly. Help us to stop trying to make things hard. Remind us to turn to You in all things because You are able to simplify everything for us. When we put our trust in You, we will be wise. When we realize You are all we need, we will have peace. Remind us daily to go back to the basics and simplify our lives so our focus is on You and not this complicated world. In Jesus' name. Amen.

There is nothing more difficult than complicating the easy things.

The basic things in life are easy but we sometimes work at making them hard.

We need to practice simplifying our lives by focusing on God rather than this complicated world.

Thinking too hard about something will make it much more difficult. We need to let it go and let God handle it.

What we think are the hard things in life are simple things for God. #trustinHim

2 Kings 3:18 "But this is only a simple thing for the LORD, for he will make you victorious over the army of Moab!" (NLT)

Focus: Trust in God to help when things get difficult because nothing for Him is too hard.
