The week in review
Sunday, March 27, 2016
Lots of strange and wonderful things happened this week. The scale was scary but kind. I ended the week down 4 lbs (at one point I was down 6 lbs and feeling blech, so I bumped up my calories for a few days) and I hit the 20 lbs lost mark! That's 6% of my starting body weight since I started my healthier lifestyle journey on 1/18/16.
As if that wasn't enough, I had a bunch of non scale victories (NSV) this past week as well. I've eaten dinner at the dining room table every day this week, and on Thursday my badonkadonk fit in the dining room chair with the handles! My plan was to do my measurements the first of each month, but today I did them early this month to get the starting measurements for the spring 5% challenge, since March 1 I have lost 1/2" in the waist, 3" in the hips and 3/4 " in the thighs.
I ate ( and cooked) quinoa for the first time. I'm often challenged to meet my minimum protein goals for the day, so I'm excited to try it as a substitute for white rice. My first experiment is going to be fried quinoa, a take on fried rice.
I was able to make a day trip, just for fun for the first time in at least 6 months. Going 9 1/2 hours without laying down was a challenge for me. I have a huge muscular issue in my glute from an injury about 30 years ago. Spending too much time in a sitting or standing position without throwing my back into a spasm. I could barely walk when we finally got home, and I was prepared to cancel the yoga class today I have been working towards attending.
Well, sleep was difficult, but I started Saturday morning with my gentle stretching and was excited to realize I had managed to enjoy a day trip without throwing myself into a debilitating flare. So after the dogs had their walk, I was able to attend my first yoga class in a looooong time (maybe a decade?).
Goals for today
