April 13, 2016 TRUTH OR LIES
There is a story of a man and woman in the Bible who wanted others to believe they were giving God more than what they were really giving. God had one of His people call them out and they continued to lie about what they gave. They were attempting to trick others to make themselves look good. Because of their lies, their lives were ended. God does not tolerate sin. He cannot. However, when we confess our sin and turn back to Him, we have another chance.
Acts 5:9a "And Peter said, 'How could the two of you even think of conspiring to test the Spirit of the Lord like this?'"(NLT)
Dear Lord, we know we should never test or attempt to trick You. You know everything and we are going to be accountable for all we do. Help us to see what wrong we have done in the past and confess it. Remind us of the consequences for lies and trickery. We may think we can deceive others but You know all things. Help us to stay in Your word and continue to live as You call us to resisting the temptation to lie and trick others. In Jesus' name. Amen.
When we conspire to trick and pretend, we will have to face the consequences.
God knows what is truly going on in our hearts and minds. Attempting to trick Him or others will not get us ahead in life.
Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord." (NLT)
Why choose to do wrong when God has so much more for us when we do what is right?
Rather than choosing to tell lies to look good, we need to speak the truth in love.
Ephesians 4:15 "Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church." (NLT)
Focus: Remain faithful to God and always speak the truth. John 8:32 "And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." (NLT)
