Thought and Prayer For Friday, April 15, 2016

Friday, April 15, 2016

Self-control means to be able to control ourselves from doing things we shouldn't do and be strong enough to do what we should. It means to be thinking about the consequences and end result of our actions to help us have the self-control to do the right thing. If we need more self-control in our lives, we need to give up control to God. We need to get more into God's word and know He can help us to make better decisions. He can help us with our self-control when we focus on Him. He can show us a way out.

1 Corinthians 10:13 "The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure." (NLT)

Dear Lord, we know if we truly seek to have a life of self-control we need to submit our lives to You. You give us what we need so when we are tempted, we have the power to resist temptation. We know you will show us a way out of tempting situations when we focus on You. Help us to remember to turn to You and stay strong in Your word so we are able to have the self-control to do what is right. In Jesus' name. Amen.

God is able to give us what we need to have self-control to resist temptations.

If we want to succeed in doing what is right, we need to get deeper into God's word.

Joshua 1:8 "Study this Book of Instruction continually...only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do." (NLT)

Giving control of our lives to God will help us to have better self-control when tempted.

God gives us what we need to have self-control to do what is right.

2 Timothy 1:7 "for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control." (ESV)

Focus: Training our minds to know God's word will help us to have better self-control.
