April 16, 2016 SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINE

It is good we want to be physically strong enough to do what we need to do, but we also need to be spiritually strong. It takes commitment to decide to work out every day to build our muscles and to have healthier bodies. It also takes daily commitment to make the decision to strengthen spiritually. We have to make the decision to be closer to God through prayer, reading His word and removing all that keeps us from doing His will. He gives us the choice but we have to make the decision and commitment to make the difference.

Ephesians 3:16-18 "I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God's love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is." (NLT)

Dear Lord, please help us today. We know we have decisions and choices to make. We know we will be tempted to do one thing when You really want us to do another. Thank You for Your unlimited resources. Please help us today to use those resources and begin making habits that will be pleasing to You. We want to obey and do Your will. Help us to remember You all day long and make the decisions and choices You want us to make so we can become closer to You. In Jesus' name. Amen.

We can be disciplined to spiritually grow when we allow the Holy Spirit to work through us.

When we have done wrong against God, it is possible today to turn from it, repent and He will forgive us.

We have to start somewhere to begin to grow spiritually. Why not start today and be disciplined to read God's word daily?

Spiritual growth will help us here on earth and in our Eternal Home.

Spiritual growth cannot be done without the Holy Spirit in our lives.

Ephesians 4:23 "Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes." (NLT)

Focus: God wants to renew our thoughts and attitudes today with His Holy Spirit. Let go and let God.
