Making the most of changed plans
Saturday, April 23, 2016
Yesterday was meant to be a hiking day. Our backpacks were ready, and we were on our way to Monadnock when it started to rain. We opted to save the hike for Saturday, and go visit my Mom.
What a great day we had! I was surprised to see my mom at 94 doing needlepoint with her crafty friend Flo. Mom wants to make something special for me. In fact, she thought that I had bought her the needlepoint project a few years ago.
Flo comes in twice a week and does much more than crafts. She takes her out for breakfast or shopping, or whatever the two of them decide to do. She keeps my mom's mind sharp and alert. She also watches for problems that I might miss. I don't know what I would do without Flo's help! My mother's life is so much richer with her friend Flo coming over twice a week!
Yesterday's plans were changed because of the weather. It became a Mom day instead of a hiking day. My vacation is almost over, and I'm having a blast because I've been flexible, and ready for change.
