May 9, 2016 WHAT GOD HATES

The Bible is full of examples of love. God is love. Without Him, we can't truly love. However, there are also examples of hate. We know of the evil examples of hate where there is killing and destroying of God's people. However, there are good examples of hate as well. There are things even God hates. He tells us there is a time to love and a time to hate. When we know what He loves and what He hates, we can better understand how to live in obedience to Him.

Proverbs 6:16-19 "There are six things the LORD hates - no, seven things he detests: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that kill the innocent, a heart that plots evil, feet that race to do wrong, a false witness who pours out lies, a person who sows discord in a family." (NLT)

Dear Lord, You clearly tell us what You hate. You clearly describe for us what real love is. We should be able to understand this. Help us to memorize the things You hate and stay clear of them. Help us to not be haughty, lie, kill, plot evil, do wrong, bear false witness or stir up trouble. Instead help us to remember to show and share love. Remind us when we need to love and when we need to hate. Thank You, Lord. In Jesus' name. Amen.

When we know what God loves and what He hates, we can better know His will for us.

We should be sure our actions are in line with God's will and we are living according to His word.

God wants us to know His word so we will know how to act according to His will.

When we understand what we should hate in this world, we can be a better witness for God.

According to God's word, there is a time to love and a time to hate.

Ecclesiastes 3:8a "A time to love and a time to hate." (NLT)

Focus: Reading and remembering God's word will help us to turn away from worldly things and focus more on Him.
