July 18, 2016 STAY IN CONTROL
Emotional intelligence has been a buzz word in the workplace for a while. Some didn't completely understand it. Others didn't care to. However, emotional intelligence is not only being aware of the emotions of others but controlling our own emotions as well. With all the issues in the work place, it is easy to fly off the handle in anger, grow impatient or get upset and cry. But God wants us to control our emotions and we can do that when we keep our focus on Him and give Him our issues at work.
Psalm 37:8 "Stop being angry! Turn from your rage! Do not lose your temper - it only leads to harm." (NLT)
Dear Lord, help us to remember we are working to serve You. Help us not fly off the handle at work when things don't go our way. Help us not to get our feelings hurt when we think we aren't being treated fairly. Remind us daily we are to live and serve only You. We know You treat us all fairly. We know the things people say and do at work to hurt us are only acts of sin. Help us to forgive them, control our emotions and continue to work only for You. In Jesus' name. Amen.
When we choose to work only for God, He will help us handle our emotions.
God wants us to keep from getting angry at others at work because when we are angry we can't share His love.
When we stay aware of our emotions at work, God can help us when we begin to lose control.
Negative emotions at work keep us from acting professional and godly in the workplace.
God wants us to be patient with others and be a godly example to them despite what they do to us.
Proverbs 16:32 "Better to be patient than powerful; better to have self-control than to conquer a city." (NLT)
Focus: When we ask God to help us control our emotions at work, He will. Trust in Him.
