July 30, 2016 HUMILITY
Most people on the job want to be recognized. They attempt to hang out where the managers and executives hang out. They talk about their accomplishments and who they know. They tend to brag more than they actually work. However, on the job, humility is extremely important. We may see those who are humble as weak but that is far from the truth. Those who are humble and meek actually have the power of God and are promised to inherit the whole earth and be lifted up in honor.
Matthew 5:5 "God blesses those who are humble, for they will inherit the whole earth." (NLT)
Dear Lord, remind us daily in all we do to remain humble to You. Remind us our bragging not only makes us look arrogant but makes us look foolish. We know we can't truly serve You and be an example for others when we are boasting about ourselves. Today, we humble ourselves before You to change us and make us more obedient to You in all we do. In Jesus' name. Amen.
We can't truly serve God and be an example for others if we are boasting about ourselves.
We need to think about some areas in our lives where we need to be more humble and ask God to change us.
God doesn't want us bragging about what we have done. He wants us to only brag on Him.
2 Corinthians 10:17 "As the Scriptures say, 'If you want to boast, boast only about the LORD.'" (NLT)
God wants us to humble ourselves before Him knowing we are nothing without Him.
James 4:10 "Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor." (NLT)
Focus: When we are humble at work, we aren't weak at all. We are strong because we are trusting in and obeying God.
