August 1, 2016 OUR WORDS

If we were truly honest with ourselves, we would admit most of the words that come out of our mouths aren't completely thought through. We sometimes say things we don't mean. We sometimes robotically say what should be said rather than the truth. We use idle words that are useless and do not bring forth any good fruit for God. Rather than just saying what others expect us to say, why not make each of our words we speak lift up others and honor God?

Matthew 12:36-37 "And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak. The words you say will either acquit you or condemn you." (NLT)

Dear Lord, we know our time on earth is short. However, sometimes we allow words to come out of our mouths that are unkind or untrue. Help us today to say what is not only pleasing to You but is uplifting to others. Help our words be words that bring You honor and help others know more about You. Work through us to use our words to show others we care and You love them. In Jesus' name. Amen.

When we keep our focus on God, He will give us the right words to say.

Thinking through our words before speaking will help us remember to say things that are uplifting to others.

When we have the right words to say to others, we can give glory to God.

We never know what type a day someone is having. That is why our words should always be pleasing to others.

If we want a right response to everyone, we need a greater focus on God.

Colossians 4:6 "Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone." (NLT)

Focus: Gracious and attractive words to others will build trust and give opportunity to share God's word.
