August 2, 2016 PLEASANT WORDS

We may can hide what is in our hearts from others but we can't hide it from God. And He is the one we need to be sure we are pleasing - not anyone else. Our words are more out there for all to hear. We may not realize who all is hearing them when we blurt words out without thinking. Sometimes little ears pick up on words we say. A good rule to live by is to let our words and our thoughts be pleasing to God. That way we are sure to always say and think the right things.

Psalm 19:14 "May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer." (NLT)

Dear Lord, we pray the words that come out of our mouths are pleasing to You. We pray also our thoughts are what You want to us to be focusing on. It is so easy to get distracted with the things of the world or get upset about what someone did. In those moments, Lord, remind us to think and say only things that are pleasing to You. Help us to use Your word to keep our minds and words in line with Your will. In Jesus' name. Amen.

We should keep God's word in our minds so He can help us have pleasing thoughts.

When we stay focused on pleasing God, we will have the right words to say.

Even when we have to disagree, we can do it with kind and gentle words.

We should use God's word to help keep our minds and words in line with His will.

Those who choose to follow God's will are wise and their words are pleasant.

Proverbs 16:21 "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." (NLT)

Focus: Finding pleasant words to say may not come naturally but it is possible to do when we seek God's help.
