August 7, 2016 WRITTEN WORD

When we write something down it becomes more concrete. We are told to write our goals down if we want to truly reach them. We are told to document things that happen to us at work so we can go back and use them as proof when we have been wronged. We are told to write down our feelings and thoughts as therapy to help us cope with difficult situations. Writing everything down can help us sort things out. God knew that and that is why He provided us with His written word. He wants us to study it, meditate on it and let it sink deep into our hearts.

Habakkuk 2:2 "Then the LORD said to me, 'Write my answer plainly on tablets, so that a runner can carry the correct message to others.'" (NLT)

Dear Lord, thank You for Your written word. We have it to help us through hard times. We have it to remember what You call us to do. We have it for daily counseling and guidance. Without Your written word, the true meaning may have gotten lost throughout the years and the message forgotten. Help us to stay focused on Your word and allow it to guide us throughout our lifetime. In Jesus' name. Amen.

When we take time to write down what God is speaking to us through His word, we are solidifying His will in our lives.

Our goals should be written down according to God's plan for our lives so we can review them and track the progress.

Writing down what God has done in our lives will make it easier to share with others.

God's written word is meant for us to read over and over so we can understand what He wants us to do.

God wants us to write down what He speaks to us so we will remember what He calls us to do.

Isaiah 30:8a "Now go and write down these words. Write them in a book." (NLT)

Focus: When we write down the message God lays on our hearts, we will better remember.
