My Coworkers Think I'm Nuts

Tuesday, August 30, 2016

As you may know I recently accepted a promotion out of my old job (like 4 months ago). I got a new group of super fun peoples' to work with, but they think my habits are a little strange.

Lately, I've been looping around the building whenever I use the restroom, since it requires walking around and using the stairs (its the easiest way I've found to keep moving throughout the day). Well, they think I'm a little weird because of it. I mean, for someone who's just going to the bathroom and coming back, it doesn't really make much sense that I would take about 10 minutes to come back. I've explained what and why I'm doing this, but they don't get it.

I don't really need them to, I'm going to keep doing what I need to do. Every step counts, and if I go home with 6,000 or more, I'm even more likely to crush my 10,000 step goal by the end of the night.

Its always strange to me when I get my 10,000 steps in and still have time to relax. I mean, don't get me wrong, my feet are still killing me by the end of the day, but its funny to me. For as long as I can remember, I always said that I'd never have time in the day to get 10,000 steps in the course of the day, so why bother. But now I'm seeing that I not only have the time, but I still have time for the leisurely activities that I still enjoy.

My goal for this work week is to get 10,000 steps everyday. I know I can do it. I've already proven to myself that I am capable of doing it, if I just stop quitting. I've already got my sneaker on, and my ice packs in the freezer. Let's do this!

Woohoo that's awesome about the steps and taking the long way to get to the restroom. It sucks they don't understand, but like you said, you don't really need them to understand.

HOORAY! Walking is so great for exercise and peace of mind. I love it! I take the scenic route to the washroom too! And waiting for the subway or elevator I pace.

If your feet are sore maybe you could get inserts in your shoes with arch or heel support, or whatever it is that's causing your pain. If your insurance covers it you could get custom orthotics, if not try the Dr. Scholl's at the drug store.

It's great to see you, or anyone. enjoying themselves as they increase exercise!

Maybe you could explain it another way. That not only you are getting steps in but it allows you time to think about what you are doing on the job and helps solves problems. At the same time it relaxes your back from sitting or standing in one place all day. That they MIGHT get or not. LOL
