Saturday me and my aunt got a lot done. Yes it was just 2 things but they were big things. I got the porch patched up and ready for the resurfacer. We got the shed primed, almost. Just have to get the ladder out to finish the high part. We had dinner late and we were tired. We got my gram on the toilet and it took her forever to pee. We were about to get her up when we heard her going number 2 so we just left her there. She then falls asleep but was still going. She has done this before and its hard to left her while shes half asleep. We tried to get her awake but she was out. We got the belt on her and I lifted her up but could only hold her for like 10 seconds. I got her back down and she was still asleep. She was also clammy feeling. My aunt started to get scared and gram was turning a shade of grey. We called 911.
We got to the ER just after midnight. When we walked into her room she was awake and her color was back to normal. She was given oxygen and an IV drip. The docs told us right away that she was dehydrated. More tests were done and she also had a really bad UTI. We left at 5 a.m. once she was moved to a room. She got up at 8 and headed back to the hospital. She looked great and was making full sentences. She hasnt done that almost all year it feels like. They said her oxygen was low. One of the nurses also said that with the elderly, having a UTI can effect speech. They have also said that low oxygen can do that too.
We dont know when she will be released but when she is, shes going into a nursing home for a week or so for I guess rehab, thats what my aunt was saying. We are going to set up an appointment with a lung doctor to see if she will need an oxygen tank.
My aunt took yesterday off so she can go help gram eat. I had to babysit so when their mom got them me and my aunt went back up there to feed her dinner. She was back to her old self. She asked my aunt why there was a cat in her hair. She said something about peeing in my aunts pocket. She was making these "in pain" sounds so when my aunt went to see if she was ok my gram hit her. Not hard though. She was a hoot lol.
Today my aunt went to work and I didnt have the girls today. The plan was to have me do some yardwork but I woke up with a stiff neck so my aunt told me to just take a day off. Ive been taking care of my gram everyday since June of 2014. This is my first day since then that I have been home alone and I dont have to care or watch anyone. I forgot how nice it is to be home alone.
Over the next couple of weeks when Im not watching the girls I will be outside all day. There is so much I need to get to. I hate to say this but Im glad this happened because there is just so much I have to do and its hard to get to it when you're caring for someone.
