Fall catch-up

Monday, October 17, 2016

It has been a busy summer for me. I started the season off with a 10K walk late in May. I walked the first 5K with a friend who dropped out due to the heat and breathing problems. Her husband picked her up and I continued on to a half decent finish time. I was happy with my time as it was a full day for us. We started the day with a charity ride for our Motorcycle club. From that, I came home to the Ottawa race weekend 10K. The start time was delayed an hour due to the heat, but all in all it was a good run.

Throughout the summer I spent a lot of time riding motorcycles but was still able to keep up my walking schedule which allowed me to complete the Canada Army Run Commander's Challenge in September. Although my timings were not great, they were acceptable to me. I completed the 5K in 42:56 and the 1/2 marathon in 3:23:14 for a total time of 4:06:12. I am very happy with my time and hope to improve on it for next year. Not sure I will try both again on the same day, but it was nice to be able to say, I Did It! at least once.

Have a 5K walk on Thursday of this week with a group from work. We will see how that one goes. Getting late in the season so the chances of cold and rain are higher. Not so much fun under those conditions. We will see.
