Plugging along full of Jamaican Patties!

And we have about 50 chiming clocks----
It takes us forever to get their chimes to go with the hour!

It's Sunday---Day #6----and I am NOT back in the Land of the One, yet!--
Lord love a Duck!
Yesterday, at lunch, instead of looking up the calories in a Jamaican pattie, I wolfed down 2 of them---Afterwards, noticing how difficult it was to eat all of Pattie #2, I began to clue in-----Maybe the reason I loved this meal so much, might be because the ground beef covered with a hefty crust, was the wrong lunch choice---

Dinner last night was pickerel at son#1's restaurant----
I was determined to choose a healthy meal!
It turned out that the fish was on the raw side---
I ate about half of it--did not want to send it back---
Eventually I had to tell the waitress that the cook should perhaps cook the fish a lot more--
There was no charge for my dinner----
I suppose it goes to show me that one can have a bad meal at home--and away---that I must be more vigilant as to what goes down the gullet, no matter how strong the hunger pangs are!

So I'll keep trying here---
There are reasons the fat isn't shifting in my world---
Hopefully today will be absolutely the best day ever----because I am a mean, lean Sparkly person who deserves to be sleek--slim-healthy--and happy!

We used to have a cuckoo clock that popped out every half-hour and eventually, we didn't even hear it. I love the last meme in this blog!

Have you thought of just stopping the clocks, waiting until they are at the right time (11 hours later), then starting them once again?
Being basically lazy... that is what I'd do.

I've never heard of a Jamaican patty. Heck I couldn't even spell it. If it's not good for you, I'm sure it's delicious. I can't imagine trying to change the time on all those clocks. I had trouble this morning getting the clocks on the oven, microwave and coffee pot to match. I think one of them is still off by 1 min. This is a new week and your week to get to Onederland if you strive for it. You can do this. After all, you are a mean, lean Sparkly person who deserves to be sleek--slim-healthy--and happy!

I've never had a Jamaican patty, but I wonder if they're something like a Cornish pastie, which I love.

Sorry about the under cooked pickerel. A word to your son might be in order as other diners might be served fish the same way. They might just cross your son's restaurant off their list of places to dine.

    Stay positive and emoticon on!

I can't imagine trying to get all those clocks to match! We had Runzas when I lived in NE. Funny how the same thing has such different names. Do you actually pay for your meals at the son's restaurant? Bad deal on the pickerel... Today is the party for the local grandson, turning 3. It'll be fun if I am vigilant!!

Found the recipe for Jamaican Patties on the WWW. Wow - they kind of remind me of a sandwich I grew up on called a Bierock. I grew up in a German community in Kansas and everyone cooked Bierocks. In Nebraska, they are called Runza's.

    Check it out...

I have never had or even seen the Jamaican patties. The pickerel would have been wonderful had it been cooked. Ugh....

Keep on trying. The only one who failed is the one who just gave up. I don't see you doing that any time soon.

    Hugs to you, my friend,

Don't know how you can stand hearing all those clocks. My grandma had a clock that bonged on the hour and half hour and my mom's brother told her to throw it out the door and he'd shoot it. That's about how I feel about them too. Most of my clocks change automatically. Wish they'd just leave it alone and stop changing it.

Just read an article on moderation. It said we're not perfect (and don't have to be) and if we mess up one day (or meal) just do better the next time. That sounds like your philosophy too! You're doing great, keep it up.

I have a clock on my microwave and oven...A cute little clock in my office and that is it. I got rid of my clock in my bedroom, I was tired of watching it through the night. I have my phone, that is all I need. Anyway at this point in life, time goes by much too quickly even with our extra hour now! ;o)

Lynda, I beat you: we have 58 clocks at our house... My handicapped son is fascinated by time and time pieces, so we have clocks everywhere, all different sizes, from grandfather clock to tiny alarm clock. And yes, going backwards one hour is a royal PAIN! It took me a good part of the afternoon yesterday.

Yikes! Fifty clocks to change would make my crazy! So much easier to change the clocks in the spring, but at least in the fall you get an extra hour of sleep. Maybe you used some of those extra calories at lunch changing all those clocks?

    Have a Sparkling day!

I actually did get an extra hour of sleep last night. I still got up at my usual 6:15 a.m. but am amazed that I relaxed enough to stay in bed that long.

Sometimes we do slip up, but good for you for getting right back on track. This whole weight loss thing is a lot harder and a lot less fun than it was gaining the weight!

Everybody messes up from time to time. History, and a lesson is how I look at those times in my life (so I should be brilliant, right?!!). Right now is the best time to make a good choice, pick a powerful but short term goal and go for it. In 1 minute you will get to make a good choice again. Or not. But we can only choose what we do right now, so we need to pay attention just for right now.
PS-Jamaican Patties sound like our southern-style USA standard: country fried steaks (cubed ground beef coated in flavored flour, pan fried and covered in gravy). For variety they also replace the steak with chicken breast or a thin pork chop.

Hmm, I think my shape is getting out of shape, lol. No kidding. And I've banned the scales for the past little while.

I guess we have to work it Lynda, at home and away. Geesh, food is not kind to my body so I'm going to be kind to it.

That cacophony of clock noise would drive me nuts! Why would you want to break the peace and quiet of the north?? I am happy we don't change our clocks in Saskatchewan. It is irritating for trying to figure out the times of events online for the first little while though. Its nice not to have to change a bunch of clocks for sure and especially watches.
Sorry about the fish meal, really you should have sent it back. Its like the trend with roast beef is to leave pink in the middle and I would not eat it that way.
Try drinking more water or eat a healthy snack so you don't feel so hungry at meal times. Its especially hard at restaurants with so many tempting odours, so the trick is to have a little something in the stomach before you go.
Think before you sink (with too much weight gain from too much food)
You can do it! Mind over matter!

Love the last cartoon! You must love the symphony from the clocks- that is a chore getting them all synced up- I still think daylight savings is a goofy thing. There are still only 24 hours in a day no matter what the clock says- LOL. Arizona doesn't observe daylight saving- so it is a bit confusing when calculating time differences between friends and family.

I joined a challenge and our official weigh in is on Wednesday. I indulged in a burger on Tuesday ( ok not the just burger, the whole thing- onion rings too)- The scale popped up Thursday, si the rest of this week, I am also the lean mean fighting machine. A slip of the lips, forever on the hips! When I eat out, I need to remember to divide the serving in 1/2- better waste than waist.

We do deserve to be sleek, slim, healthy and happy, so we just have to keep an eye out for those sneaky calorie buggers!

I had never heard of a Jamaican patty so I googled it- OMG those look good! Betcha can't eat just one- LOL

    Have a SPARKLY day emoticon

My DH does an excellent Jamaican accent when ordering Jamaican patties . . . and of course I love 'em tool. I suspect it's the dash of allspice in the meat filling? But absolutely cannot afford the calories, and one is never (really) enough. Maybe I should experiment with a "Jamaican patty inspired" soup, without the pastry . . . hmmmmm.
