Extended Fast - Day 9 Review

Sunday, November 06, 2016

I made it!!! 9 1/2 days fasting! 228 hours almost on the dot :D

I'll begin with my stats today:

2.8 pounds down from yesterday, for a total of 15.8 pounds lost during this fast! As I've said before, I'll regain some of that weight and my goal is to keep it to a minimum by eating strictly clean keto food and only having one big meal a day, along with a fat bomb later if I want it.

My fasting blood sugar this morning was 81, a very nice FBS :) It'll be interesting to see what my FBS will be with eating again. My plan is to eat my one meal around 11 or so to give my body a chance to process it and for the insulin to come down before evening.

I didn't do the Ketonix this morning, so no numbers but I'm pretty sure it would have blown 3 reds.

I did deal with more hunger yesterday and began getting a bit lightheaded every so often, a good sign that it was time to end the fast. I dealt with it yesterday by drinking more water and getting some salt.

This morning it was so nice to cook a gorgeous meal! A crispy cheesy egg, half an avocado, 3 slices of bacon and 90 second 'bread' made with almond flour. Very good! I'm quite full now :)

I've been tracking my blood sugar since I began that meal and it's looking good so far. I'll share those details later.

Before I ate the meal, I had a small handful of macadamia nuts about 30 minutes before eating it to get the blood flowing to my stomach and to get it ready for a meal. If I hadn't done that, I could be suffering serious stomach pain right now.

I did take a reading on the Ketonix about 2 hours after the meal and I'm still in deep ketosis - 3 reds! Yay!

Tomorrow I'll see how much weight I've gained since beginning eating. It will be mostly water weight, so it's not a big deal.

This was a great 9 day fast! No stress, I felt good (other than my cold at the beginning), and I gained some great blood sugar readings and lost some weight. I'll probably start another extended fast after Thanksgiving.

Keto and fast on!

Your fast seems to have been a real success. I particularly was interested in your fasting blood sugars. I'm curious to see the effects of fasting on reversing insulin resistance. I hope to get myself ready for a more extended fast in the near future. Right now I'm just 24 hour fasting. It's painless. So I need to push the envelope a bit. Thanks for sharing your experience. And I hope you continue to share the benefits that you discover as you go forward.
