Break Away: It's time to LET GO

Tuesday, January 10, 2017

This isn't a new phenomenon. Fad dieting and falling for nutrition myths are common place in our society. It is very unfortunate and it can lead to serious conditions as devastating as eating disorders and body dysmorphic disorder and many others. On the "lighter" side, at minimum it can lead individuals astray and development of poor nutrition and fitness habits.

So many choices out there and hearing people discuss "oh I'm doing Paleo, I'm doing ketogenic, I'm doing Atkins, this or that". All of this is often due to lack of research and more of "word of mouth" or simply jumping on a phase of what others are doing.

If I can state one helpful encouraging thought it would be this:

Do what is healthiest and best for YOU. Not because your parents did something. Not because your best friend does something. Not because your church, walking group, gym trainer, etc. does something. This is a personal commitment to yourself and your body is unique and unlike anyone else's.

Fad diets claim to work for EVERYONE, and this is often why expectations are not meant and individual's become discouraged.

Remind yourself, YOU are at the center of your fitness and health desires. Anchor your motivation in that, and keep pushing along.

Much love and light,
