Thought and Prayer for Saturday, January 21, 2017

The way we spend our money is basically due to either how we raised, our experiences and habits or our temptations. We can change those bad spending habits we witnessed from our parents as a child. We can learn from our past experiences with money and turn it to positive. We can turn from the temptations in life to spend more money than we have when we focus on God and seek His help. God can help us find a way out.

1 Corinthians 10:13 "The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure." (NLT)

1. Write down some of your bad spending habits.
2. List the things you have purchased over the past few weeks.
3. Ask God to help you prepare for the next temptation.
4. Know He will help us make good habits and help you control your spending.

Dear Lord, please help us use our money problems as lessons from You. You can teach us so much about the wrong things we have done with our money. You can show us what wrong things to turn from so we are not tempted to repeat bad money habits again and again. Help us to resist spending money we don't need to spend. Remind us You and Your word are ready to show us a way out so we can break these bad spending habits and resist temptations. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Bad spending habits can come from the experiences we had as a child. God can help us break away from those habits.

God's word has the resources we need to move away from bad spending habits.

When we are tempted to spend money we don't need to spend, God can help us if we turn to Him.

The devil wants us to be a slave to debt. Let's prove him wrong and allow God to help us get out of debt.

When we are tempted to do wrong and spend money we don't have, it is not God tempting us. However, He can help us.

James 1:13 "And remember, when you are being tempted, do not say, 'God is tempting me.' God is never tempted to do wrong, and he never tempts anyone else." (NLT)

All temptations come from this world. The devil is pleased when we give in to the temptations but God's word can help us resist.
