We had a break between storms so today my husband and I took a walk along the coast. It was exactly what I needed!
My Mom came home from the hosptial Wednesday night after round 2 (or round 1, continued) of pneumonia. I don't know about you but the Bay Area is seeing one of the worst cold and flu seasons on record, and for some reason, the flu shot has not been completely effective for senior citizens.
It's been hard watching my Mom go through this, and my Dad has some struggles of his own. I am blessed to have the time to spend with them, and my husband and kids really support me in this effort. My brothers and my sisters-in-law are also helping out as much as they can. We are now trying to determine if the current situation is just temporary, or the new normal, and whether we need to summon more resources.
In the meantime, my husband encouraged me to join him for a walk on the coast today, and I'm glad I said yes! It was cold and blustery and damp and awesome. We saw plenty of others out there enjoying a break in the rain. I LOVE seeing dogs at the beach...they are so excited. And we even saw dolphins!! I tried getting a picture but they were just too quick.
I got a little gassed as we hiked up a hill over looking the ocean, realizing it's been over a week since I've exercised. I realized more than ever that I need to make room for exercise every day, even if just for my mental health. But I'm so glad I got out there today!
Anyway, here are a couple of photos from today. I hope you have a great week!
This woman was feeding the pigeons and it reminded me of the bird woman from Mary Poppins. Interesting how the sea gulls did not come around.
I love how green everything is right now. Next time we want to continue on this trail, but this is about when we started to get thunder and lightning, so it was time to go back!
Here's a view north. Like I said, it was grey and damp but really wonderful.
