January 31, 2017 CONTENTMENT
Probably the best thing we can remember in life when it comes to wealth is to learn to be content. God tells us godliness with contentment equals great wealth. It may be hard to understand but when we get to know God and His word, we will understand the true meaning of being content. The wealth of this world will never lead to a content life; however, the wealth and riches God gives us will help us to always be content.
1 Timothy 6:6-8 "Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can't take anything with us when we leave it. So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content." (NLT)
1. Write down ways to be godly.
2. List how you can be content.
3. Seek God rather than worldly wealth.
4. Pray for direction to be content daily with what you have.
Dear Lord, there are so many temptations in this world that distract us from You. We see them on television. We hear about them from our friends. We get information in our emails. Help us to stop focusing on what we don’t have and learn to be content with what we do have. Help us to focus on You and Your word so we can find the true wealth You have planned for us. In Jesus' name. Amen.
Remember when we help others and let God help us with our needs, we can be content.
When we are busy thinking about what we want in life, we forget what others need.
Focusing on our own desires and what we don't have will not help us be content.
Life is full of things we could have and do but God wants us to be content with what we have.
We should pray for content and be satisfied every day with what God has blessed us with.
Proverbs 30:8 "First, help me never to tell a lie. Second, give me neither poverty nor riches! Give me just enough to satisfy my needs." (NLT)
Ecclesiastes 6:9a "Enjoy what you have rather than desiring what you don't have." (NLT)
When we are grateful for what we have and enjoy it, we will learn contentment.
