I miss my Jake and Nellie and they can never be replaced... but I will soon have two furry family members coming to share my condo.
My family is still in the process of settling my mother's estate, cleaning out her house, and selling it. At the rate we're moving, it's going to take us forever. As for now, my brother is living at the house so both mom's animals are still there. Jerry lets Peaches out in the morning before he goes to work and I go over to let her out in the afternoon. That system is working well right now.
Jerry plans to retire in October and wants to move south for better weather and golfing. He doesn't want to take the animals with him so they'll move in with me.
Peaches is a bearded collie. She's a rescue and is scared of most men but soon accepts women and LOVES children. She was with my mom unless she was with me. We shared her and I know Peaches will do well with me. Condo living is not conducive to dog walking (at least not mine) but there's a beautiful dog park about a 10 minute drive away.
This is my favorite picture of Peaches.
Peaches loves the snow and will stay out as long as someone stays with her.
MamaCat is a rescue also. She turned up at the door, hungry and pregnant. She hung around for several days before we found out the boys next door had been beating her with sticks and rocks. That soon stopped! She had 3 kittens but one did not survive. We found a home for one and my brother and sister-in-law took the other. MamaCat turned into a loving affectionate cat. She stayed on the bed with mom for much of the last month of mom's life.
I think Mama looks like someone spilled a bottle of bleach on her.
MamaCat looks grouchy here but she's really not!
Peaches and Mama have been together for the past few years and get along well. MamaCat lets Peaches know who's in charge!
