This week, I've been watching how I'm doing with my fiber, potassium, and calcium intake (nutrients i tend to be notoriously low in).
Something I've learned is that coconut water and v-8 add significant amounts of these. V-8 adds Calcium and fiber, while both V8 and C.W. add lots of potassium! (AND for minimal calories, comparatively speaking)
A side benefit is that they're filling and i just feel so darned good drinking them!!!
I also used to think that raspberries and blueberries were fairly comparable in nutrient value --- but look at the difference in fiber and net carbs!
raspberries (1/2 pt) 18gm carb - 11 fiber = 7 net carbs
blueberries (1/2 pt) 28gm carb - 5 gm fiber = 23 net carbs
Blueberries do have significant nutritional value (after all, they ARE a colorful fruit!), but in the future, I think I'll probably be choosing raspberries as my staple, with blueberries as an occasional treat.
