February 4, 2017 EASILY INFLUENCED

We all live in this world together. However, because of media, because of other people, because of the ways of the world, we could be easily influenced to do what the world is doing. We could be easily influenced to say what the world says. We could be easily influenced to live as the world lives. However, God tells us in His word we are not to copy the behavior and customs of this world. He wants to transform us so we are thinking about Him and knowing His will for us so we can be His people rather than the world’s puppets.

SCRIPTURE:
Romans 12:2 “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” (NLT)

ACTION STEPS:
1. Write down how you may be copying the world.
2. List the things you do that are godly.
3. Ask God to help you focus more on Him.
4. Turn away from worldly things and seek God’s will.

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, we know You have plans for us. We know You created us for a special purpose. Help us to step away from the ways of the world and learn more about You. We want to know Your will. We want to seek Your face. We want to copy Your ways rather than the ways of the world. Help us today, Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

REMEMBER:
We need to copy the ways of the Lord rather than the ways of the world.

God can change us into new people with a desire to do His will when we choose to turn from our sin and follow Him.

The power of God is beyond our comprehension but is so great we should want to run to Him in all we do.

The ways of the world may look great and enticing but God’s ways are much greater and fulfilling.

We may not always know what God is planning for us but praying and trusting in Him will help us better understand His will for us.

FOCUS:
Isaiah 55:8 “’My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,’ says the Lord. ‘And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.’” (NLT)

When we follow God, we will discover His will and it will be nothing like we had imagined.
