NEWS FLASH: SparkPeople continues to serve as a fount of information, support, accountability and inspiration.
I joined SP so I could track my food, track my exercise and track my weight. All of these are still prominent features even after the most recent "earthshaking" changes.
When I learned there were thousands of free exercise videos and informational/inspirational articles I was thrilled. These are the features that hooked me and kept me from switching to some other tracking site and these features are still here.
When I discovered teams, I discovered support and accountability I did not expect when I signed on. With millions of users, reading all the feeds and posts was sort of like walking down the streets of downtown Chicago and trying to connect with one person in the throng. Teams broke down the millions of Sparkers into groups I could relate to, and have been an integral part of my success. Teams are still here.
Over my mere four years here, there have been changes to SparkPeople's presentation (some I like, some I don't), but never changes to the core features that brought me here. People may call me passive for not making a big deal over the few things I miss with each revamp. People may call me resistant to change for not engaging more fully in the social media aspect of the site. But no one will ever call me ungrateful for the heart and soul of SparkPeople and the good folks who make it live so that we all have the best opportunity to succeed.
People seem quite upset by the removal of the team points feature. I used this. I liked this. However, that few seconds of daily amusement was such an infinitesimal part of my life, I cannot justify a reaction beyond "Oh. Bummer." When you put it all in perspective, I am still getting everything I came for and more.
