The plan

Saturday, April 22, 2017

I stepped on the scale at work and found I'm 3.6 pounds above my maintenance range. I'm going to still say I'm in maintenance I've decided. I did debate starting all over again, but 3.6 pounds is something I can get back on track fairly quickly.

How did that happen? Well there are a lot of factors. I'm getting older and it's possible my metabolism is changing. I don't really track my food like I used to. But I think for me, the biggest factor is not weighing myself regularly.

The gym used to have a scale in the locker room. They've gotten rid of that because apparently your health is more than just a number. Quite true. But I liked having it there because every Monday (or most every Monday) I could get a pretty accurate weight comparison. I get to the gym at the same time of day, having the same quantity of food and drink. I always wear the same style of leggings, either a long sleeve or short sleeve t-shirt, the same sneakers - it's going to be as close to the same set of circumstances as I can make it. It's easy to see if you're creeping up and make adjustments accordingly.

So I've got to get a new routine going so this sort of thing doesn't get out of hand. I'm working on that. I have a plan, it's just making it part of my routine that is going to take some effort.

I just love the pragmatic and determined tone of this blog. S**t happens and you deal. (Rather than spiral out of control.)

I need to do regular weigh-ins too. For me it's a scale in the bathroom and a daily weigh. That way I can see how I naturally fluctuate through the month and not sweat it. BUT, there is a certain number that I don't want to see, and if I do, I have to make some changes.
