Thought and Prayer for Saturday, May 13, 2017

Saturday, May 13, 2017

If we want to be successful in teaching anything, we need to practice what we preach. This is true for so many situations. When we practice what we preach, or teach, then we will learn more about what to do and what not to do. We will learn from our mistakes and we can share what we have learned in our teachings. We can learn from reading God’s word and applying it to our lives. We can pray asking God what to share and what not to share. Practicing what we preach will help us to grow and give us more to share and teach to others.

Matthew 23:3 “So practice and obey whatever they tell you, but don’t follow their example. For they don’t practice what they teach.” (NLT)

1. List the things you are dealing with in your life.
2. Write down what you can teach yourself today.
3. Ask God to reveal His word to you about this.
4. Take action and teach yourself from His word.

Dear Lord, we pray You will give us the strength and direction to practice what we preach. We know there are times we are telling others about Your word and what You want us to do yet we don’t do it ourselves. Helps to remember Your word and apply it to our lives. Remind us to tell others about You, what You do for us and what You can do for them. We want to live as You have called us to live and be the godly example You want us to be. Help us today, Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

We are to live as God wants us to live so we are practicing what we are teaching.

If we want help living a godly example for others, we need Jesus completely in our lives.

God wants us to lead others with His word and by our own good examples.

1 Peter 5:3 “Don’t lord it over the people assigned to your care, but lead them by your own good example.” (NLT)

We need to take time to teach ourselves so we can be better teachers to others.

Romans 2:21a “Well then, if you teach others, why don’t you teach yourself? “ (NLT)

Let’s be sure we are teaching ourselves what we are teaching others about God.
