Thought and Prayer for Monday, May 15, 2017

There are countless times where we are dealing with issues and we just don’t understand how they happened. Real life tends to sneak up on us at times. But rather than feeling sorry for ourselves or getting mad, we need to look at these times as teachable moments. There is a lesson buried in our situation. A lesson from God. He is teaching us something about ourselves. He is revealing to us a behavior we may need to change. He is showing us an action we need to take. Whatever the teaching moment is, God wants us to take action and remember it so we can grow spiritually and take advantage of that teaching moment.

Hebrews 12:11 “No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.” (NLT)

1. Write about a hard time in your life.
2. List the things you learned from it.
3. Pray asking God how you can use what you learned.
4. Formulate your learnings into something you can teach to others.

Dear Lord, we know we have all experienced painful times. We have gone through times where we don’t know exactly how the situation happened but we are having to deal with the aftermath. Remind us in everything there is a teaching moment. Show us what we can learn and share with others about the hard times we have to go through. Remind us You will always be with us and You will reveal to us what we can learn from any situation. Thank You, Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

God wants us to remember there are teachable moments in all of our hard times.

When we focus on God He will show us what we can learn from any situation.

God will give us the right words to share with others when they are going through hard times.

Some lessons are hard but the harder they are the more we can learn from them.

God’s word gives us light to see what we need to understand and teach from hard times.

Psalm 119:130 “The teaching of your word gives light, so even the simple can understand.” (NLT)

When we focus on God’s word every day, He will help us to understand it and show us how to apply it to our lives.
