Hold on tight a little longer

Friday, July 28, 2017

I have discovered I have become a little too obsessed over numbers. I am 55 and I have 45 years of FAT to get rid of, lose, no DESTROY! So, 1 pound a week is making me crazy, I want it today. Spoiled child. I am doing more today and each day than I was before June 1st. In mid May I really struggled to do 30 minutes on the treadmill, today I did 1.5 miles in 30 minutes. Had some great songs motivating me today. Mandisa's "Stronger"...'Hold on just a little bit longer, Gonna make stronger'.....yep! Awesome! Then NeedToBreathe "Hard Love"...'Hold on tight a little longer, what don't kill ya makes ya stronger, get back up, 'cause it's a hard love.'....oh yeah.....I'm plugging away...watching those numbers.....then.....N O ! I hit the emergency stop button and erased all my numbers....W H A T ? UGH! Gee whiz, I even did some more jogging today. Now I know I am too focused on numbers and not what I have accomplished, the very fact that I am at the gym and exercising is a big deal...a really, REALLY BIG DEAL. So, then Toby Mac's "City on our knees" comes on....'If we gotta start somewhere, I say here. If we gotta start sometime, I SAY NOW' Oh yeah! Blessings on you!

You are really making progress! emoticon

I know what you mean on the numbers! I hate it when I hit the emergency stop by mistake, but we'll have a chance another day.
One thing that helped me to not obsess about how much and how fast I was losing weight was the realization AND acceptance that what I was doing to lose weight was what I'd be doing for life. Since there would be no big change it didn't matter how fast it was.

I am a slow loser as well when I see folks losing 30 pounds in 2-3 months and I have lost 33 since October 2016 I use to get a little down but not any more. I don't know how hard they worked to lose it so I got over it. I try to stick to my plan.

That's a really motivating playlist you have! I am a half pound per week loser also. I think while reading about others journey is more helpful than hurtful I sometimes have to pull back when I consistently read about others dropping 4-10 lbs/wk.
