Major non-scale victory!!

Yesterday evening was our Pastor's retirement dinner celebration. First of all, it was extremely helpful that I knew the menu in advance so I could plan ahead and eat accordingly for breakfast & lunch. Appetizers included carrots and cheese cubes, so I did great with that! I ate chicken, a bunch of green beans, and a tiny spoonful of rice for my main course. More importantly I ate slowly and really took time to enjoy the food and the conversation at the table. Then came dessert. I mulled it over for a really long time before I decided the cheesecake was worth breaking my 110 day streak, and in hind sight I'm still happy with my decision. It was a delicious piece of plain cheesecake, but most importantly I wasn't fixated on it. I ate it slowly with a cup of decaf coffee, and savored every bite thoroughly while also enjoying great conversation. It took me almost 15 minutes to eat that one small piece, and for me that was an amazing, incredible victory! So today I go back to not eating sugar so the next time will be equally as enjoyable.     You ROCK! Being able to plan ahead can make such a huge difference, and you were intentional in planning and then stuck with it. It's great that you weighed the cheesecake vs. the streak, decided it was worth it, and then SAVORED the cheesecake. I figure ALL things in moderation. Way to go!!!
