Weekly Update #1

Saturday, August 19, 2017

This is the end of my 4th week on SP - my 1 month SP-versary is Tuesday. (I have been on SP since July 2011, but I started completely over last month.)

I just finished the Sweet Tooth Challenge, which I feel like went well for me. I haven't cut out sugar completely, but I have definitely noticed improvements in that area. I wanted to cut back on sugar basically so I won't be so dependent on it. I do not trust myself with sugar, but then on the other hand those cravings and urges have diminished a lot. Like with food in general, I want to include this in my diet in moderation. I don't want to completely cut it out because I feel like that will blow up in my face later on, so to speak. Sugar is a sneaky bugger, though. It's hidden in A LOT of stuff!!!

I didn't do so well this week with my exercise. I only exercised one day. But at least I walked my dog every day, which is about 10-12 minutes. And I walk around a lot at my job too. I really enjoy working in that "lifestyle activity" but I need to work on having a stable exercise routine, so I joined the "Jumpstart Your Workout Challenge." I need to learn to enjoy exercising again. I think it's good to manage/relieve stress. Right now the only thing I really enjoy is walking my dog.

I am struggling getting a full 8 hours of sleep during the week. It's hard when I have to get up so early in the morning (before 5). I am still going to work on this and pursue it. I was so tired when I got home from work yesterday that I basically crashed on my couch after I ate dinner. *shaking head*. I really need to map out a game plan so that I can get better rest. I have read that I should go to bed and get up at the same time every day including weekends. But I just don't want to get up at 4:50 in the morning on Saturdays and Sundays. Maybe I should just try that for like 2-3 weeks and see if it helps?

I'm happy to report that I've been soda-free for 4 whole weeks now. That is crazy. I've been chugging water like a boss, usually 9+ cups a day. I drink a lot of water at work because I talk so much I guess.

I've eaten out A LOT less now too. I think I've gotten stuff out to eat like 3 maybe 4 times? When before I was eating out pretty much every single day! I've eaten a lot of soup/sandwiches for dinner. I also have used a lot of easy to prepare stuff too. And, I've got my "oatmeal mojo" back, as I call it. That is my go-to breakfast on the weekends. Still not doing well with bananas. I like them, but they go bad so fast!

As I go into my 2nd month at SP, I want to:
#1 Conquer the whole getting a good night's sleep issue.
#2 Establish my exercise routine.
#3 I want to cook 1 meal a week at home - like try a new recipe 1x/week. Looking
forward to using my Crockpot!
#4 Including more veggies/fruit into my diet.

I have to say that I am really thankful for SP and the whole SP community. You inspire confidence that I can really do this!!! Thank you!!!
