September 25, 2017 KINDNESS

Kindness. Looking out for the interest of others. Helping those who we can help right now. Kindness is an act of doing good for someone without expecting anything in return. Kindness is what we do to others no matter if they are a friend, stranger or enemy. Acting in kindness is what we are called to do by God. We have all been treated kindly by someone in our lives. We know how it feels. We know God commands us to be kind. So why is it so hard to be kind to one another?

SCRIPTURE:
Luke 6:35 “Love your enemies! Do good to them. Lend to them without expecting to be repaid. Then your reward from heaven will be very great, and you will truly be acting as children of the Most High, for he is kind to those who are unthankful and wicked.” (NLT)

ACTION STEPS:
1. List ways you have shown kindness in the past.
2. Write down those who have shown kindness to you.
3. Remember God calls us to be kind to all people.
4. Pray for a greater awareness of the needs of others and show kindness to them.

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, we know we sometimes get so wrapped up in our own world that we miss out on opportunities to show kindness. We sometimes believe others will take action so we just pass on by. We sometimes think we have too much to do to show kindness. We sometimes get selfish and don’t show kindness because of our feelings. Help us to be aware of those in need and show kindness today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

REMEMBER:
To be a kinder person, you must slow down. ~Rick Warren

Proverbs 3:28 “Never tell your neighbors to wait until tomorrow if you can help them now.” (GNT)

God calls us to be kind to one another.

Zechariah 7:9 “This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: Judge fairly, and show mercy and kindness to one another.” (NLT)

We need to stay aware of the needs of others and show kindness to them.

FOCUS:
1 Corinthians 10:24 “Don’t be concerned for your own good but for the good of others.” (NLT)

When we are attentive to the needs of others and help them, we are showing kindness.
