September 26, 2017 A RIGHT HEART
This world can sometimes focus on the negative way too much. Even those who are truly trying to do good works are hammered by the media for every little fault they have. Then there are those in this world who focus on outward appearance stating a person looks like the right man or woman for the job. First, everyone is going to make mistakes in life. Even those with a right heart. Second, those who have a right heart may not always have a pleasing appearance. That is why we need to follow God’s instruction and look at the person’s heart and not judge by outward appearances.
1 Samuel 16:7 “But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.’” (NLT)
1. List some public figures who choose to follow Jesus.
2. Write down the ones who aren’t focused on God.
3. Know God wants us to look at the hearts of those we select in office.
4. Pray for and choose wisely our government leaders.
Dear Lord, we pray for those who are in leadership positions. We know they have a lot to deal with. We know they are being criticized left and right by the people they serve. Remind us daily to pray for them. Help us to see their good qualities. Remind us about when they spoke out about You or stood up for what You stand for. Help us to do what we are called to do to support them. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Those with a right heart will continue to do God’s will despite what others may say.
Those will a right heart will trust in God and know He is completely in control.
Those who pursue righteousness and love God are those who we want to run our country.
1 Timothy 6:11 “But you, Timothy, are a man of God; so run from all these evil things. Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness.” (NLT)
When we have leaders in our country who have wrong hearts, we can put our trust in God to replace them with those who have good hearts.
Acts 13:22 “But God removed Saul and replaced him with David, a man about whom God said, ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart. He will do everything I want him to do.’” (NLT)
A man of God is one who follows Him and is willing to do everything God wants Him to do.
