Running on Empty
Tuesday was a normal day. I was riding into work when I noticed it. My gas gauge was very low. Okay. It was a very tiny bit above empty. I was taking the back road shortcut to work, and I had no gas. I had 5 extra minutes to turn around and get gas that is 5 miles in the wrong direction. I could try to chance it, and hopefully, make it to the gas station that is about 15 miles away. What would I do?
It's always worth taking the time to "filler up!" both with the car, and with our bodies. Running on empty is a dangerous game to play. Take the time to eat properly. Pack a healthy lunch with healthy snacks! Keeping our body's "tank" full will keep my focus clear and strong. I work better when I have eaten!
Take the time to talk with friends, and keep your emotional tank full too! It makes a BIG difference in how you treat others. We can only give out what we have received.
The happy ending. I chose to go back, and be 9 minutes late. Yes, my coworkers noticed that I was late, but we all had a good laugh. I learned a lesson. I need to take the time to fill the tank when I first notice that I'm getting low on gas.

Have you ever run out of gas on your way to work? Have you ever run out of patience? Planning ahead, in both car and emotional fuels makes a difference.
