October 1, 2017 GIVE GOD THE GLORY

There are many definitions of pride and what causes pride. There is even a good pride where we have accomplished a goal or our family member has received an award. However, most of the pride mentioned in the Bible is referring to pride that is wrong. Wrong pride is when have confidence in ourselves rather than God. Wrong pride is when we give ourselves the glory rather than God. Whatever the reason for the pride we have in our hearts, we need to remember our selfish pride can lead us away from God. We only have what we have and can do what we do because of God. He should get the glory in all things – not us.

James 1:17a “Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens.” (NLT)

1. Write about a time you gave God the glory.
2. List some times where you took all the credit yourself.
3. Know everything you have is from God.
4. Thank God and give Him the glory for all you have and do.

Dear Lord, we give You the glory for the great things You have done. We know we are sometimes too focused on us and our accomplishments. Sometimes we think too much of ourselves and what we can do. However, we need to be reminded daily You are in control and You allow us to do great things. Humble us, Lord, so we are focused on You and giving You the glory for the great things You do through us. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

When we take pride in our own abilities, we are forgetting all our gifts and talents come from God.

We shouldn’t think so much of us and the good things we do that we forget to give God the glory for working through us to do those things.

God wants us to remember we are to obey Him by turning from pride and giving Him the glory.

Getting into God’s word daily and praying will help us to remember to turn from being too proud for our accomplishments.

All that we have comes from God. Without Him we have nothing.

2 Corinthians 3:5 “It is not that we think we are qualified to do anything on our own. Our qualification comes from God.” (NLT)

We can’t do anything without God’s help and we should give Him the glory.
