October 2, 2017 TOO GOOD
Many of us may not believe we are prideful; however, we may want to seek God’s input on that. He knows our innermost thoughts and desires. We possibly have thoughts and desires we feel we can justify when we believe that we deserve a promotion, an award or some type of recognition. Those thoughts may, in fact, be our pride seeping in just a bit too much.
We are not deserving of anything on this earth. When we go through life believing we deserve more than we have, we are thinking too much of ourselves. We are being prideful. We should be content with what we have and grateful for all God provides to us. We should be grateful God doesn’t really give us what we truly deserve.
2 Corinthians 5:10 “For we must all stand before Christ to be judged. We will each receive whatever we deserve for the good or evil we have done in this earthly body.” (NLT)
1. Write down what things you believe you deserve.
2. List the reasons you feel you deserve these things.
3. Know God wants you to put aside your pride.
4. Pray for a better attitude of gratitude rather than having prideful desires.
Dear Lord, help us to remember every day we are not too good to do what is right. Remind us daily we are not too good to do Your will. We put off doing what You call us to do so many times in our lives because pride gets in the way and we don’t feel like it is us who should reach out and help others. Show us how to put our pride aside, to be content with what we have, and stop thinking we deserve more. We want to be givers and doers of Your word. Reveal to us anything that is keeping us from completely obeying You. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
The devil wants us to think we deserve more than we already have. Don’t believe him. It’s a lie.
God wants us to know we should be happy with what we have and use it to help others and give Him the glory.
When we believe we are too good to do something that will help others, we are way wrong.
We aren’t too good to do anything God asks us to do.
We should be grateful God doesn’t deal with us as we truly deserve.
Psalm 103:10 “He does not punish us for all our sins; he does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve.” (NLT)
When we feel we aren’t getting what we deserve, we need to remember when Jesus was on earth, He didn’t either.
