November 2, 2017 STINKING ATTITUDE
So much talk about attitude today. We can read about it in books. There are podcasts on it. Speakers tell their stories about it. Attitude is everything. Back in the day, Zig Ziglar said “Your attitude, not your aptitude, will determine your altitude.” The strange thing about attitude is if we don’t change ours, no one will. Our attitude can continue to stink but no one may tell us. As long as we have a bad attitude, we will continue to go nowhere in life. We need to examine our own attitudes and ask God to show us any wrong attitudes in our lives. That is with our relationships, our careers, our health and our finances.
Ephesians 4:21-22 “Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception.” (NLT)
1. Write down any wrong attitude you have.
2. List the things you believe causes that attitude.
3. Know God wants you to have a right attitude.
4. Ask God to show you how to improve your attitude.
Dear Lord, our attitude is important. It reflects who we are. It reflects how we feel. It reflects what is going on in our minds at the moment. If we are in control of our attitude, we can get things done. However, if we let our attitude be controlled by our feelings, we will continue to look foolish to You and others. Help us, today, to remember we have the ability to change our attitudes and make an impact on others. And when we do this, we will have opportunities to influence others and share Your word. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
A negative attitude will only show others we aren’t focused on God.
As long as we have a bad attitude, we will continue to get nowhere in life.
No one wants to be around someone with a negative attitude. Let’s be sure we are reflecting a positive one today.
A bad attitude in our relationships will only hurt others and keep us from seeing what God wants us to do to serve them.
There are things in this world that cause us to have a wrong attitude. God wants us to get those things out of our lives.
Colossians 3:5a “So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you.” (NLT)
When we allow negative thoughts to lurk within us, it shows outwardly in our actions and words.
