I was going to come back for three weeks, just to prove I couldn't lose weight and therefore had a thyroid problem and should go to the doctor and get fixed so I could lose weight the easy way. Life doesn't always work the way you want it to. I came on for three weeks and lost three pounds. Drat! Now I have to continue to work at this getting the old fashioned way! There may still be an underlying thyroid problem, but I suspect a lot of my weight gain could be chalked up to more in, less out, and a slower metabolism due to age and inactivity.
This accident should have been my wake up call. My youngest came out for Mother's Day because she realized I could have been seriously injured - or dead. One good thing that came out of getting hit was the MRI that showed a kidney cyst and gallstones. My doctor suggested that in order to avoid surgery, I should go on a low fat diet. So, back to Spark People and the Nutrition Tracker. It's actually a Nutrition Planner for me. Having back problems that were exacerbated by the collision and bothersome knees means I have to take it slow and adjust to my limitations instead of powering through and getting hurt. So maybe the crash had a silver lining.
