Day 31 thoughts

I'm feeling great, losing weight and staying around 30 to 40 g total carbs a day. I have learned so very much thanks to this board - Team Keto! Things like 'maltodextrin is bad, m'kay' (used as filler for sweeteners like Splenda and spike your blood insulin as bad or worse than sugar) and 'do total carbs not net, as fiber gets digested differently by everyone'. Who knew!!

I don't do bulletproof coffee, fat bombs, keto sticks or extra ketone drinks. I figure if I'm not hungry and I'm keeping the carbs fairly low (and still losing weight) that is good enough for me.
My last HbA1c 2 years ago was 5.8% and the 'vegan weirdo' doctor (who I no longer see) told me that I was pre-diabetic and scared me quite badly. Through research I find out that there are many opinions on at what level HbA1c becomes pre-diabetic and diabetic. It's all about how metabolically deranged you are! In another 2 months I will get more blood tests (now that I've been keto for a month and as I understand, it takes 3 months of changes to read on HbA1c) and then I will have a better idea on how my body is adapting and where I am metabolically speaking. Can't wait to see how my GP reacts to keto!
I'm keeping it as simple as possible, again, for ME. I eat fatty sources of protein (when I track, I'm aiming for around 60 - 80 g daily), sticking with my low carb veggies (mostly from the cabbage family) the size of my closed fist twice a day and add butter and olive oil to my veggies. Cream cheese, sour cream, whipping cream and cheese are also used low to moderately. When it's in the fridge, I have lettuce the size of two of my closed fists once daily. I also use a toast-sized plate and not the dinner plates any more and I have been eating with chopsticks to make me slow down and be more mindful of my eating. The newest addition is that I'm quizzing myself about whether or not I'm wanting to eat due to hunger, emotions, boredom or the time of day. Just throwing ideas out there - maybe something will click for you, dear reader!!
I love, love, love youtube university. My keto go-tos are Go Keto with Casey (she's the mastermind behind my WOE - way of eating- and very importantly, much of her knowledge is from Dr Westman) along with Headbanger's Kitchen and KetoConnect for treats, which I keep to once a week.
Sheesh, and I was trying to keep this post short....who knew!! Sorry guys!
