5 why’s

Monday, January 15, 2018

A child will ask why till the adult responding loses patience or the ability to answer. Most of us can relate to a child’s endless query. Did you know there is a process in business analysis called the 5 whys? It is used to evaluate root cause. The concept is to dig into cause/effect till you get to the root or cause. It works. If I ask myself why I gain/lose weight I will tell you self sabatoge during stress. Why do you do that to yourself? Because it is my natural response. Why is it your response? It is what Ihave known and is in my comfort zone. Why? Natural programming for me. So I not only need to work on dropping weight and exercise, but my response to life’s stress to really resolve this issue. Funny how much we can learn looking at a child explore and learn life!

I'm familiar with 5 why's in root cause analysis. It really makes you think. Never considered asking myself. Brilliant idea!
